Description This position leads the development and execution of Quality strategies, with input into the business unit strategies. Key responsibilities of the position include input into policy development and leading the introduction, maintenance and continuous improvement of Quality practices across the organization. Lead execution of Quality strategies and programs to support the cross-category business unit Quality in the BU. BU’s vary in complexity, size, scope and economic differences across our five categories (Biscuit, Chocolate, Gum & Candy, Powdered Beverages and Meals). Responsible for quality programs for internal and external factories in the assigned BU, driving revenue in the BU (see metrics for each BU). Internal factory Plant Quality Managers will report indirectly to this role. This role will ensure that our products, facilities, processes and systems meet the required Company and legislative quality standards through the Quality Supply Chain Management System and Quality Policy implementation across the organization. Champion the BU Quality Pillar / Lean Six Sigma initiatives for the function as part of the Lean Six Sigma Journey established across the company. Act as Special Situations Management Team (SSMT) Coordinator and Technical Lead for the BU in supporting the SSMT Leader (BU General Manager). Leverage Center Quality resources in Food Safety, Sanitation, Audit and Supplier Quality against BU priorities. Working with the Region Quality Leader and QSARA LT, ensure a robust pipeline of talent to develop and place in Quality assignments in the region. Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders and customers at the BU level. Responsible for BU Commercial Quality priorities (Quality practices from Plant through distribution to the Customer). Responsibilities In conjunction with the Region Quality Director and BU Supply Chain Leader proactively co-ordinate the development of action plans by working closely with all functions across the value chain to assure alignment of objectives. Ensure a QA BU Plan which translates into business results and communicate these goals/KPIs and results through regular reporting to the BU Leadership Team. Take a leadership role in risk assessment activity throughout the value chain and report on areas of improvement, following up on progress, and proactively assisting in issue resolution and elimination to assure that established company quality standards are consistently met with a primary focus on Food Safety programs. Protect and enhance Company and product image by working to continually improve performance against key quality measures such as special situations, consumer complaints, quality related costs and audit outcomes. Proactively lead the initiatives required to identify problems and implement solutions. Lead the BU Quality organization in providing regular and timely information, advice and assistance by implementing effective communication systems to: Assure that managers who are accountable for producing and handling company product are aware and understand the Company’s quality systems, requirements and programs. (Specific example are ISO 22000, HACCP and QPE). Prepare facilities for MDLZ corporate audits and, with ISC, ensure corrective actions are put into place. Continuously improve Quality related knowledge, skills and understanding of personnel producing/handling Company products by conducting training programs and systematically disseminating written information covering standards, procedures and policies to assure employees are equipped to meet required standards. Direct and control all aspects of the BU Quality budget Determine needs and lead the implementation and maintenance of the Mondelēz Quality Chain Management Systems across all aspects of the supply chain for BU (all categories) to ensure food safety, compliance to Mondelēz standards and regulatory compliance. Work to continually improve performance against key quality measures such as special situations, consumer complaints, and quality related costs and audit outcomes by proactively leading the initiatives required to identify problems and implement solutions in order to protect and enhance Company and product image. Manage the Special Situation process for the BU as required, including maintaining a high state of preparedness, team training and excellence in execution (including root cause analysis, corrective actions and lessons learned). The coordinators role involves working with senior management and managing across functional teams in a fast moving, changing environment where failure to act may result in a significant adverse impact to Mondelēz. Develop and implement value added quality and scientific programs to continually improve performance against key quality measures so as to reduce consumer complaints, manufacturing defects, complexity of Quality systems, etc. and improve compliance to consumer expectations. Work closely with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Marketing, R&D, Sales and General Management to ensure alignment with the Quality objectives that translates into business results and provide tools to support this (for example - Integrated Lean 6 Sigma, Consumer Relevant Quality Standards, Quality Suite etc.) Hire and develop a group of experienced quality and scientific professionals capable of delivering against requirements of food safety, quality and compliance. Responsible for technical and professional development of staff in the group as well as quality professionals in supported plants. Take a leadership role in risk assessment activity throughout the value chain and report on areas of improvement, following up on progress, and proactively assisting in issue resolution and elimination to assure that established company quality standards are consistently met with a primary focus on Food Safety programs. Review and evaluate quality status through regular systematic and detailed audits for plant locations, including co manufacturers, licensees, warehouses and key suppliers. Identify areas of improvement, follow up on progress and proactively assist in issue resolutions to ensure that Mondelēz Quality standards are consistently met. Qualifications Academic Knowledge Bachelor’s degree required with concentration in Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering or related field. Working Knowledge Experience in Quality, Supply Chain and R&D (min10 -15 yrs). Knowledge of quality systems and policies, HACCP, ISO9001/22000, L6S (min 5 yrs). Experience leading and working with cross-functional teams with strong people development skills (min 5 yrs). Practical experience in Food and or Beverage categories, preferably high-risk products, e.g.: Chocolate, Biscuits, cheese dairy, nuts (min 2+ yrs).
