The role of Senior Scientist I is an excellent opportunity to grow your experience in a regional role to lead development and deployment of our products and grow the business. As part of a team, you will generate ideas, develop and commercialize innovation, renovation and margin initiatives as well as lead the development and deployment of global innovation platforms to be launched in the region. The role will support supply chain renovation and reinvention activities and ensure that products meet consumer-inspired quality throughout the commercialization process. Furthermore, the role requires a broad range of practical confectioner’s skills in tandem with an understanding of the scientific principles which underpin them. The role will also deliver significant global business exposure across many different product platforms, business units and functions and excellent communication and collaboration are required. Responsibilities include: Manages/leads project teams for large to major-sized projects and sub-projects, including those with multiple business partners. Ensures consistency, technical precision and compliance with methods of work Delivers expert technical knowledge, developing solutions to problems, ensuring compliance to technical policies and procedures and delivering technical input to address business needs Executes against objectives and significantly influences the direction and quality of work done by other technical people. Effectively structures and presents status updates / proposals to influence partners or share with higher management (up to and including Director-level) Delivers significant global business exposure across many product platforms, business units and functions Develops expertise in ION and ION related projects Conducts or initiates relevant legal compliance checks and nutritional profiling and generates IDF’s from IP searches (as applicable) Proactively seeks ways to improve all aspects of the department, including functional, technical and operational processes and methodologies, practical solutions and facilities and presenting these ideas in an appropriate way to the GCT leadership forum Qualifications Successful completion of Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences or a related discipline required. Masters or PhD in target discipline an asset Demonstrated excellent category technology skills and in-depth functional/technical knowledge of chocolate processing and product development required Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills to interface independently with multiple internal and external stakeholders including Senior Management Demonstrated understanding of the impact of formulation and/or process changes on product characteristics Experience as an Independent lead, familiar with organizing/running research/ commercialization of a product/process (preferred) Excellent cross-functional and external organizational skills, including time management and priority setting skills to develop plans and execute strategies Strong project management skills required Demonstrated experiences of practical application of theory in Food or engineering / scientific related discipline Experience in people management and people development or equivalent team management Demonstrated successfully commercialization of one or more product/process(es) or make significant technical contribution in large projects If you are applying to a position in Canada, accommodations for applicants with disabilities or other grounds protected by human rights legislation are available upon request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the employment selection process.
