About the role


The Technical Business Development Manager will be focused on multiple Kerry technology and has full accountability to perform as the subject matter expert in support of the commercial and marketing organizations.  With this role, there is full responsibility to pro-actively partner with sales leaders to support technical discussions with managers, drive the advancement of the technology, and collaboratively develop business case for technical innovation. 

Key responsibilities

Technical BD Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage in all strategic customer activities (across multiple technologies)
  • As the SME, provide technical input to the Sales function, in support of commercial success linked to various technologies
  • Continually and pro-actively partner with sales leaders and various levels of stakeholders to help drive collaborative innovation, solutions for our customers, and the advancement of projects
  • Collaboratively develop business cases for technical innovation
  • Remain connected to academic, research, conferences, and learning opportunities to increase knowledge.  Continually apply this knowledge both internally and externally to drive cutting edge solutions for our customers
  • Structure and teach a specific field of expertise, to enable others to understand opportunities for application
  • Take a science and data driven approach, to increase overall project success rate tied to this technology
  • Accountability for the commercial success linked to the pet business
  • Take a strong leadership position to ensure there is a collaborative effort in developing a sustainable pipeline of growth
  • Develop strong relationships with all functions, in order to execute projects and drive the technology forward



Qualifications and skills

Experience/Skills Required for the Role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Master’s, or PhD in Food Science or related discipline preferred
  • 6-8 years progressively responsible, post baccalaureate experience in related technical or R&D roles within a pet food company
  • Organized and analytical in approach with customers and projects
  • Extremely technical approach to business
  • Demonstrated ability to connect with various levels of stakeholders
  • Track record of driving successes against specific technology
  • Clear thinker and communicator, with the ability to articulate and influence across all levels of an organization, both internal and external
  • Commercial acumen
  • Experience in CPG or food ingredient industry
  • Product development, project leadership, and process support experience
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate technical strategies and turn them into clear compelling actionable plans and results
  • Leadership and management (of employees, projects or agencies)
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex priorities within demanding timeframes
  • Demonstrated past success in commercialization of an individual technology
