About the role

The National Account Manager will be responsible for positioning and promoting Kerry’s product portfolio with retail customers primarily in the Cincinnati and Upper-Midwest portion of the US.  The incumbent in this role will work extensively with the customer’s buying team to design customized and value-added finished store brand product solutions. This individual should be entrepreneurial and have a desire to treat this account as their own business.  Creativity, value proposition selling and excellent customer management skills are needed to continue, support and grow existing platforms and identify new categories where value-added products can be created.  The successful candidate must be able to speak confidently about the manufacturing / supply chain process and Kerry’s capabilities, while matching these capabilities to the retails objectives.

Key responsibilities

  • Prospect and “close” new business opportunities through standard product, custom product and integrated solution selling.
  • Pro-actively defend current business.
  • Item Recaps/Updates, 4/13/YTD Reports (by Category), 4/13/YTD Reports (entire business), Item Detail Reporting, Weekly Feature Sell Thru, Promotional Reporting/Tracking, New Item Trackers (every modular change), Hurdle Rate Trackers, Scorecards, Zone Pricing Update, Execution of Trade Strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to increase volumes and decrease cost to improve ROI of all activities.
  • Manage a large portfolio of diverse projects across Kerry functions in order to service retail customers using Salesforce.
  • Provide innovative, customer focused ideas to retail customers by understanding their brands, platforms and strategies.
  • Develop and expand on strong strategic relationships within retail customers R&D, Marketing and Sourcing and foster counterpart relationships within Kerry.
  • Effectively work across multi-functional teams within Kerry to promote and deliver best-in-class service.
  • Manage complex pricing models aligned with retail customers expectations.
  • Broker Management

Qualifications and skills

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience supporting Kroger and its divisions and a strong knowledge of self-manufacturing retailer operations.
  • Private Label/Store Brand experience a plus.
  • Complete understanding of the Food, Drug, Mass and Club channels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Salesforce.com, Nielsen reporting and Spectra Data.
  • 4 year College Degree Required (Business, Finance, Supply Chain or related field desirable).
  • Breadth and depth of manufacturing / supply chain experience highly desired.
  • Good working knowledge of food science and how it relates to product development and commercialization.
  • Willingness to travel to other Kerry office and manufacturing facilities in addition to the offices and manufacturing facilities of the customer up to 35% of the time.  Other travel may be required on an ad hoc basis.
