Job Description
The Quality Assurance Manager will manage all Quality Assurance programs at the plant/pilot plant level to ensure compliance with company policies, governmental regulations, and industry best practices including cGMP and HACCP. The QA Manager will integrate quality assurance and quality control into all functions and personnel.  
Duties and Responsibilities
•    Lead and manage Plant QA team including direct supervisory responsibility for 3 Lab Managers and one Food Safety Coordinator 
•    Maintain Quality and Food Safety programs, ensuring compliance with national and international standards and legislation and ensure that all new regulations (i.e., FSMA) are quickly and accurately implemented in the plant
•    Act as lead for all FDA food safety site inspections
•    Manage HACCP assessments. Compose and edit HACCP plans and strategies for new products. Manage HACCP records and file maintenance 
•    Maintain plant document library for all Food Safety and Quality documents (i.e. product formulas, HACCP plans, plant food safety policies and SOPs) 
•    Participate and contribute to continuous improvement of departmental SOPs 
•    Monitor the compliance of all products to the finished product specifications, standards, protocols and procedures, as needed 
•    Execute training programs that support the Company’s objectives with regard to quality and food safety 
•    Apply administrative and record-keeping processes to support the food safety and quality programs 
•    Ensure Labs comply with all Global and Plant safety policies 
•    Facilitate the investigation of all customer quality complaints and process deviations related to food safety and OOS material. 
•    Facilitate and assist the plant and area managers on troubleshooting, problem resolution, and CAPA programs as required. 
•    Manage the plant's lab group fiscal year budget 
•    Review all plant project requests for capital expenditure to ensure that the project will adhere to all quality and food safety standards 
•    Partake in all Pre-AFE and Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews to insure quality, safety, and regulatory requirements are met 
•    Summarize monthly quality data to report plant performance against all quality KPI's to the plant and Corporate 
•    Review all Management of Change requests for the plant related to product quality, safety and legality 
•    Lead all customer and certifying body audits and implement corrective actions, as needed, to ensure compliance to all necessary requirements 
•    Oversee the testing of the plant's water monitoring program to ensure compliance with food safety requirements  
•    Monitor and maintain the plant's microbiological/environmental monitoring programs for all finished product packing areas   
•    Maintain plant and lab’s analytical equipment and ensure compliance with group methods and alignment with corporate test equipment strategy
•    Embed quality and food safety mindset into all operational and engineering roles
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
•    Detailed knowledge and track record of successful implementation of food manufacturing policies and procedures (cGMP) 
•    Certification in FSMA compliant food and feed Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) with proven ability to maintain HACCP plans, i.e. Certification as a Preventative Controls  Qualified Individual (PCQI)
•    Ability to multi task and manage multiple projects concurrently 
•    This candidate must be able to successfully work with all areas of the plant and corporate support structure. 
•    To be able to negotiate and achieve practical and sustainable solutions to issues across all related plants and products 
•    This candidate must be able to successfully communicate effectively at all levels of understanding from inexperienced new hires to long term, highly technical employees for training and educational purposes regarding quality and food safety 
•    Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills 
•    Strong knowledge of Excel, WORD, PowerPoint and SAP Quality Management software programs 
•    Strong budget management skills 
•    Strong USDA, FDA, Kosher, Halal, customer and third party audit management experience 
•    Strong chemistry and microbiological background 
Qualification Requirements
•    Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Food Science, Microbiology, food process, chemistry or comparable required; 5+ years of related Quality Assurance experience in a food manufacturing plant preferred 
•    5+ years’ experience as a people manager 
•    Formal HACCP and PSQI training is strongly preferred 
•    Ability to respond to common inquiries or concerns from customers, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community 
•    Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or customers 
•    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions 
•    Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables 
•    A working knowledge of computers and business software:  Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook is required, a working knowledge of SAP Quality Module is preferred 
•    Familiarity and experience with GFSI Food Safety certification management preferred
