As part of a fantastic team of scientists, engineers and nutritionists, you’ll work tirelessly on product design or development, process development, quality, nutrition, sensory and food safety aspects to ensure we deliver a consistent, delightful consumer experience. RD&Q is where you’ll turn great ideas into brilliant brands. This Global Food Safety role provides expert scientific advice across a range of technical disciplines including microbiology, toxicology allergens and physical hazards and is responsible for the execution of Food Safety programs at Mondelēz. The individual will support the technical experts on the delivery of prevention programs and in carrying out trouble-shooting investigations across the hazard categories. It includes the validation of the HACCP plan and the validation and verification of allergen management. It also includes the validation of lethal steps critical to Food Safety and the verification of physical hazards management and how effective Food Safety relevant Quality Policies (e.g. Pathogen Environmental Monitoring, Zoning) are implemented. The individual will work closely with other stakeholders such as auditing, corporate quality and sanitation. The individual will provide leadership to New Product Development initiatives in the area of food safety. Primary responsibilities: Conduct HACCP validation review of HACCP plans, allergen and extraneous matter management process as well as other food safety programs such as e.g., zoning and PEM Identify and communicate food safety risks to BU/Region, giving actionable advice on Food Safety programs. Ensure Food Safety programs reflect most updated known scientific information Partner with R&D to ensure appropriate product design for safety and quality. Continuously improve and adapt the relevant HACCP models & policies to reflect current knowledge, working with other regions and FS team members. Develop new models as appropriate Provide input into review and up-dates of global documents e.g. the global HACCP standard and the Supplier HACCP manual and participate in internal global Food Safety subject matter teams Partner with business partners (e.g ISC, Sanitation, Corporate quality) where improvements and execution of relevant HACCP models, PEM and other food safety programs are required Proactively implement globally (e.g. in company standards) lessons learned in food safety to improve business performance Continuously improve own food safety related knowledge, skills and understanding of food allergens, microbiology, extraneous matter management and design safety assessments Develop appropriate training for functions in the area of food safety Involvement in Global Food Safety calls and active input on food safety topics in order to align internally between different regions. Proactively identify and communicate chemical, allergens, physical and micro food safety risks to senior management, giving actionable scientific advice on risk management and risk communication. Ensure Food safety programs reflect most updated known scientific information Qualifications University degree in relevant technical discipline with strong preference for PhD 8+ years professional experience also in allergen risk assessment and management Proven track record in leading HACCP validation and/or Food Safety assessments in plants Knowledge of HACCP and ISO 22000 Proven track record in dealing with food industry risk assessments based on CODEX principle, delivering science-based risk assessments with an ability to handle both uncertainty and variability Sound Food Safety knowledge, food technology and quality across wide product portfolio with focus on chocolate and biscuit Able to communicate effectively to senior business leaders on complex technical issues Ability to build collaborative relationships and lead issue resolution/consensus Demonstrated ability to work with computer systems to enter, analyze and report information Strong understanding of public health, NGO and government actions/interests related to Food safety Fluent English Willingness to travel This is a fixed-term role for 12 months.
