The candidate will support development and continuous improvement of gum and mint products sold in the U.S. and Canada. The candidate will participate in all stages of the product development lifecycle, from concept through to development and commercialization. Experience in food ingredient functionality, formulation, and commercialization is required. Responsibilities include designing, planning and executing experiments for bench top, pilot plant and plant trials. The candidate will be able to leverage project management skills to develop project objectives and recommend action plans to implement key findings.  Personal drive, organization, strong technical and project management skills, and excellent communication skills will be the keys to success in this role. The position requires the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and apply technical expertise to solve complex problems.  A candidate with specific experience working with gum and mints is desirable. Candidates with other confections or food experience will be considered and will be required to demonstrate the intellectual horsepower and learning agility necessary to quickly develop expertise in this field. Accountabilities Apply knowledge of food science principles and ingredient functionality to create, develop and improve gum and mints products to drive growth, margin and quality objectives. Partner closely with consumer science, process and package teams to bring to life consumer-led product solutions from bench-top prototyping through to scale-up feasibility and commercialization at both internal manufacturing sites and through joint development with external manufacturers. Provide technical leadership on cross functional project teams; collaboratively develop technical learning plan and timeline for each project, while understanding our function’s relationship to others in the business. Influence business partners to drive project agenda; build effective relationships with colleagues, cross functional teams and stakeholders. Work closely with Consumer Science and Marketing to develop robust consumer learning plans. Collaborate with Operations and Quality to troubleshoot formulations and resolve quality issues Leverage sources beyond own area of recognized expertise within organization to ensure effectiveness. Knowledge and application of Quality policies, implementing and assuring documents and procedures control on ISO 9001 and QCMS. Use specific systems such as: PPMS, e-QCMS, RnD Suite, ION, MasterData request to register projects, reports, resource allocation, specs and processes registration. Lead projects start-up of new products, margin management and quality improvement projects, considering R&D product responsibilities and scope.
