We currently have an immediate opportunity for a Head of Creation- North America to join our Flavor Division in our Princeton, NJ office. The Head of Creation will enable an environment that allows flavorists to develop their passion for creation, express their creative potential and create profitable winning flavors.
The Head of Creation is responsible for leading a team of flavorists, technologist and technicians to develop and nurture a best in class creation team delivering outstanding solutions for our clients. This role is accountable for establishing and growing the Firmenich reputation among clients and within the industry. Additionally, the Head of Creation interacts with Sales, Business Development, Formula Management, Collection, Regulatory Operations and other functions. The primary responsibilities are:
Define, build and implement proactive creation programs in line with Category strategies
Manages North America Flavorist Community and R&I team.
Oversees Flavorist Training Program in North America .
Mentors and trains junior and other flavorists in building their competencies
Monitor progress of flavorists’ projects and initiatives which address technical and business needs
Ensure follow up of initiatives to support flavorists and R&I team
Perform Yearly Progress Reviews for North America Flavorist and R&I teams
Evaluate resources needed for HR planning for hiring, training, development and compensation strategies
Assess and allocate budget
Promotes teamwork within and around Flavorist and R&I Community
Drive efficiency, consistency and best creative practices in North America Flavorist and R&I Community to provide sustainable and profitable growth with the best technical solutions
Foster and encourage proactive thinking amongst Flavorist & R&I Community Provide direction, technical expertise in the creation and reformulation of flavors, process & product requirements
Promote use of Firmenich molecules,captives/ promo items within the Flavorist Community to deliver technical differentiation
Ensures allocation of the best resources to the Business Units on day-to-day and for mid-term projects ensuring a prompt response to the client’s needs and to optimize existing Collections portfolio. (Tonality excellence, gap filling)
Ensure Flavorists exhibit excellent project management by consistently delivering against project expectations and timings
Ensure availability, management and optimization of resources and tools to provide an optimal work environment for flavorists allowing them to focus on creation for the Business units
Network, liaise and foster synergies with Global Creation Team, Global Creation lead, , and Creative teams in other geographic zones.
Interacts with Global Creation lead to ensure best practice sharing and ensure proper processes are followed.
Acts as an interface between FIRMENICH and the technical needs of our customers and application team
Recognized as an expert (internal and external) to discuss and resolve flavor problems
As a Member of the North America Flavor Leadership Team
Provide leadership across the entire North America Flavor functions
Positively contribute to strategic discussions around talent development, business strategy, margin management, business models, continuous improvement, change management, and various other topics
Proven Leadership abilities - visionary, strategic thinking
Strong business acumen and mindset
Demonstrated experience in managing a team (motivation, drive, empathy)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Good influencing skills, and comfortable working cross functionally
Customer Service mindset
Strong project management skills
Open minded; flexible and organized
Master-Degree in Food Science or equivalent and/or Senior Flavourist
Minimum 10 years of experience in the Flavour industry (technical area)
Fluent in English, French would be an asset
Good knowledge of MS Office applications
